Welcome to our practice. I’m Weena Wise, relationship expert and proud owner of Covenant Therapy Group. My clinical advice is currently featured in over 40 mainstream media publications, such as NBC News, Mindbodygreen, Prevention, Huffington Post, Essence, Self, and USA Today. Over the past 2 decades, I’ve held approximately 20,000 life-changing sessions for individuals, couples, and families. My experience goes a long way in helping clients achieve the personal and relationship results they desire. I specialize in preparing people and repairing relationships.

Whether I’m helping individuals slow down, identify the core of their problems, and get the healing and tools they need, preparing partners for happy lifelong commitments, or reviving a relationship that’s on the brink of disaster, I have a systematic way of making space for people to develop self-awareness, set boundaries, and build healthier relationships. People usually need to see me when other efforts, including previous therapy attempts, have failed. If you know your thoughts, feelings, and actions are out of alignment with your goals for life, love, and everything in between then I’m your person.

I have intensive clinical training in working with trauma survivors and I enjoy using empirically validated treatment modalities, such as:

Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT)
Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT) is a form of short-term therapy that is rooted in attachment theory. It aims to improve a couple’s relationship by rekindling the physical and emotional bond that can get severed for many reasons. Restoration of the emotional connection enables partners to be physically and mentally open and responsive to each other so that they can build a mutually supportive and satisfying relationship in the moment and for the future. Once that connection is restored, it becomes a continuous source of mutual comfort and a buffer against life’s many stressors. Couples are equipped to go on to solve their own problems with the skills they learn from EFT.

Bowen Family Therapy
Bowen Family Systems Therapy is a type of therapy that is designed to decrease tension and anxiety in families by addressing individual needs within the context of a family setting. Bowen's theory highlights how behavior patterns, emotional reactivity, and relationship dynamics are passed down through generations. By recognizing and understanding these patterns, individuals can break free from unhealthy cycles and create healthier relationship dynamics for themselves and future generations.

Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT)
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is a branch of talk therapy that can help people of all ages, including younger children and teens. Your child doesn’t need to have a diagnosed mental health condition to benefit from this form of therapy. CBT focuses on how thoughts and emotions affect behavior. Through the use of this model, I help young clients learn to replace their negative thought patterns with more productive ones. Through different methods, they practice alternate ways of handling stressful situations. CBT can help young people control their impulses, eliminate self-defeating thoughts, and gain more self-control and healthy coping skills.

I worked as an adjunct professor and clinical supervisor at the University of Maryland at College Park where I obtained my graduate degree. I’m also a board-approved supervisor in Maryland and I provide clinical supervision and training for unlicensed and licensed therapists. Tune in to my podcast, “The Wise Ones” on Apple and Spotify streaming platforms for entertaining and informative discussions about relationships. I’m also a regular guest on the Kings of “The Heart” and “The Griot’s Remedy” podcasts and once served as the relationship expert on radio shows at WPGC and Radio One. I speak to local, national, and international audiences and I love serving as a moderator/facilitator for community-based panel discussions and forums. It’s my passion to educate the public on mental and relationship wellness strategies.
